I wasn't sure it was possible but I survived the day. I was at the office by 6:45am to finish prepping for a meeting that ran from 8am- 5pm. Tomorrow will run just as long but the overall anxiety level around the meeting has ratcheted down from an 11 to a 9. That goes a long way.

I'm going to NY this weekend to see family and then to annual Stationary Show. I won't have much time with Chase but I do have plans to see two shows - "Guys & Dolls" and "Next to Normal." \o/ While I'm gone, my friend Blair is coming by to see about re-tiling the ceiling in my basement guest room. It would be lovely to have the room finished before Kiffle, Ames, Lily, Cranberryink, and Anamchara descend on the 22nd. (SO SOON!!!)

The real purpose of this post is to talk about Criminal Minds. I LOVE THIS SHOW SO MUCH TIMES INFINITY.

Tonight's episode )

Oh, and I also need to talk about House. First of all, years ago I spent a summer at Carnegie Mellon University in their musical theater summer program. I'm 99.9% sure it was the summer before my senior year of high school. There was this girl in the program with me, Maria Thayer, and she sang "Bill" from Showboat at some point during the summer. Maria had this adorable Oregon accent and, to this day, when someone references Showboat I always say, "I'm Maria Thayer and I'm going to sing Bill from Showboat." Only I say it in her accent. ANYWAY. Who was a guest star in this week's House? MARIA THAYER! Yes, I know the entire paragraph was leading up to that but still. Maria Thayer is a working actress! I bet she can still sing the hell out of "Bill."

But on to this week's House. WTF?? )

I need to get into work by 7am tomorrow so it's off to bed for me!
After a week of running around like a crazy person, I stayed in bed yesterday until FIVE PM. It was glorious. I watched the first to episodes of Kings, and the last two episodes of Supernatural and Dollhouse. I also read Sheppard's Law and took a 2 hour nap. It was GLORIOUS. When I finally got out of bed, I continued to laze about reading the entirety of Shiver and finally watching Little Children. (My goodness, Patrick Wilson is handsome when he's out of Dan Dreiberg's glasses.

  • SPN: I loved "On the Head of a Pin" but, reading comments here and there, am I the only one? more on 04x16 and 04x17 )

  • Kings: I watched the first two episodes on the recommendation of [livejournal.com profile] carta and other and, for now, it's a keeper. I love the premise, Ian McShane is deliciously terrifying, and I'm compelled to see where the story goes.

  • Dollhouse: I was one or two episodes away from ditching Dollhouse but the last two episodes were enough to keep me for a little while. )

  • The entire cast of ST:TNG is reuniting on Family Guy tonight! (Clip here.) AWESOME.

  • I can't believe I haven't mentioned this yet. The new Indigo Girls CD was released on Tuesday! Oh, I love, love, love them and this CD. The 2 disc edition has a 2nd CD of all acoustic versions. Just 24 days until they're here in Ann Arbor!

  • On 3/25, [livejournal.com profile] carta did, "one year ago today, two years ago today, etc." memes and "two years ago today" was the reveal of four of the final five cylons. I remember that like it was yesterday. I missed the original airing of both parts of Crossroads arriving home from a week in London just after part II aired. I woke up at 5:30am Monday morning to watch both parts before work. Good grief. Crossroads BLEW MY MIND like few episodes of TV before or since. My original reaction from 3/26/07 is here. Also? Always and forever a Roslin/Adama shipper.

  • More on BSG: Here's a roundup on Daybreak Part II reviews

  • More on het OTPs: I love me some Rossi/Prentiss on Criminal Minds. I wish more people would write this (obviously perfect) pairing instead of the more conventional, "prettier" Hotch/Prentiss.

  • A friend took a trip to Tanzania and sent these 44957349579 photos of giraffes! After my late summer trip to Greece with [livejournal.com profile] kiffle (!!!), I need to get myself on an African safari.

I have limited plans for today. I'm trying to decide whether or not I'll actually get employee appraisals completed if I do them at home rather than at the office. I'd also like to get in a run before fitness boot camp. THAT'S IT. Lazy weekend for the win.

Oh, life. Despite assurances from the plumber who came on 2/28, there is something wrong with my master bathroom pipes and now half of the ceiling to my basement guest room has collapsed in under a wash of water. After an 8am meeting I came back home to meet the plumber in the hopes that he can do something before my 1- 4pm non-negotiable meeting and my 7pm flight to NY.

It's been a rough week but there's also some great stuff going on:

  • My new icon! BSG on the cover of TV Guide is fantastic and so is this Behind the Scenes photo gallery. As you can imagine, given my BSG posting velocity, I'm kind of worked up about the series finale but all of this media and the total awesomeness of Mary and EJO and Katee and Tricia (and even Callis) is the perfect balm.

  • Criminal Minds. I love Criminal Minds. I also love Prentiss & Rossi and this week's episode pleased my little shipper's heart. Great Prentiss/Rossi fic isn't easy to find but I searched high and low last night and discovered this gem. *basks*

  • Live music. Wednesday night my friend Jessica and I went to see Shemekia Copeland at The Ark. She was amazing. I don't know why I haven't gone to a show there before but I'll definitely be back for more.

  • House. More specifically, House & Wilson. Their sum is greater than the parts.

  • It's Friday which means it's BSG night and, if all goes well when the plumber shows, I'm going to see my family this weekend. \o/

  • I get [livejournal.com profile] carta, [livejournal.com profile] kiffle, and [livejournal.com profile] anamchara next weekend for the BSG finale!! And then a business trip to warm, warm Florida.
  • Oh, my god, I have to go into work and I'm sitting her procrastinating after watching BSG, Top Chef Crawfish, and Criminal Minds. I think I'm going to go to the gym first. Lesser of two evils, I suppose, and lord knows I need to get on the treadmill.

I love Criminal Minds and I really need to get myself a David Rossi icon. I was angry and bitter when Mandy Patenkin jumped ship but Joe Mantenga as Rossi is all sorts of awesome. I'm also happy to read fic that pairs almost any two characters on the show. The flavor of the week, though, is Hotch/Rossi.

I won't spoil anyone for Top Chef. I just have to say that I LOVE CARLA. This dorothysurrenders blog post captures all the reasons why. Carla is joy.

Oh, BSG. I know it can't be all fast paced action in these last few episodes but I'd put this week's ep in with the 2nd episode of the season - a slightly slower pace than I was looking for. There were things I loved a lot and things I didn't love at all )

    Gym now! Really.

ETA: Fuck it. I am going to try to get my work done from home and then I'm going to blow up my balance ball and work out at home. I need a break.
Hello Sunday! It's the first snow of the year and, despite my initial bitching about the impending winter freeze, it's gorgeous outside, I'm warm inside and I'm feeling okay about the next 6 months of brutally cold weather. There's an open house scheduled today from 2pm to 4pm, though, and I have a suspicion that the first snow of the year will not bode well for visitors.

After dinner last night, my date and I came back to my place and watched Lars and the Real Girl. A+ AWESOME MOVIE. It was funny and touching and so much more than I expected. We fell asleep on the couch and, around 3am, I tucked him into my guest room and went upstairs to sleep. It's a little thing but I'm pleased with myself for enforcing boundaries even when it would have been easier and more comfortable to invite him to sleep in my room.

I have to vacate my house between 2 and 4pm so friends and are going to see the new Bond. \o/ I wasn't a fan of the franchise until Daniel Craig stepped into the role. He's not, conventionally, my kind of actor but he's the perfect Bond.

    Okay, so, what else?

  • I don't usually read CSI Magazine but this issue has an interview with Melinda Clarke (Lady Heather) and also talks about Grissom's departure. Vague spoilers )

  • [livejournal.com profile] callmesandy kindly hooked me up with pictures of Shemar Moore and his penis. I loved him as Malcolm on Y&R and I love him even more as Derek Moran on Criminal Minds. I'm certain he knows how good looking he is but he can totally get away with it because he's that good looking.

  • I just found the CM newsletter: [livejournal.com profile] bau_inbox Daily CM on my friends list! Maybe this will help me find the fic I'm looking for. (I don't actually know what I want to read in the fandom now that Gideon/Reid isn't an option but I'm willing to read nearly any combination of team members.)

  • Justin was on SNL last night with a 2 minute recap of what a Thanksgiving hosting gig would have looked like. I adore him.

    ETA: Justin, Beyonce skit. Hahahaha.

Hello, Lazy Saturday. My friend Anne and I cooked dinner last night and sat around talking until 11:30pm. I finally got into bed around 1 and I've spent the morning working my way through my DVR queue.

    SGA. Fret, fret, fret. )

    CSI )

    SPN )

I wish I hadn't watched the scenes from next week's episode, though. The conclusion looks awesome but it gave away more than I wanted to know. (CSI, on the other hand, gave up just enough to have me counting down the days in anticipation.)

    House )

And I don't think I've said anything about this week's Criminal Minds )

As soon as I post and read Lily's Drake & Josh fic I'm going to take a nap. Naps are the best. Then it's off to the A2 Rally For Equality at 3:30pm. I'm going by myself but I am assuming it will be a welcoming group (of college students) and I really want to add my voice to the rally so out in the cold rain I go! Then tonight I have a date for sushi. I love sushi almost as much as I love naps.
    Bones and Criminal Minds )

I left work at 11:30am to go to the Tigers game and, in a few minutes, I'm leaving to meet some friends for dinner followed by a date for drinks. Days like this should be mandatory.

Hi. How are you? I'm in the midst of an irrational response to the news that GWB is speaking at 9pm EST which is exactly when I've been expecting to watch the season premiere of Criminal Minds. SOMEONE IS GOING TO BLOW UP, PEOPLE. I've been looking forward to it all day (all summer) and, quite frankly, I don't care if it's a disproportional response. What did Bartlett say? Sometimes a disproportional response is appropriate. Bush fucks up the economy and then takes away a much needed hour of escapism to tell me he someone else fucked up the economy? No thank you. I'll take Hotch and Reid instead.

HOWEVER, embracing my irrational response, I called CBS (212-975-4321) and they confirmed that Criminal Minds is scheduled to start when Bush finishes speaking. The call center woman couldn't confirm for certain but, with me, assumed it means "scheduled to start from the beginning of the episode."

Hey [livejournal.com profile] carta! This comes my way via [livejournal.com profile] subluxate: Knit One, Save One. Babies need hats and you can knit one for a baby in need!

What else? [livejournal.com profile] sga_flashfic is doing a kidfic challenge! If asked, I'd tell you I hate kidfic but the truth is that I've read a lot of awesome SGA kidfic. What I'm really hoping for from this challenge, though, is a story where Ronon gets a kid. He'd be such an awesome father and I can totally see him looking out for an orphan the way Runner v2.0 did but with Atlantis rallying around him all the way.

In less inspiring news, the restart of the LHC was pushed back to early Spring 2009. :(

I don't quite get the deal with Jessica Biel as an actress but she's definitely hot. On a purely superficial basis, I love how she and Justin look together i.e. HOT.

ETA: My house no longer smells like mildew! It's been getting mildly better by the day and I came home today and it's just fine! I hope this doesn't mean the mildew morphed into black mold or something. I'm going to assume it didn't and revel in the fresh, clean smell of my home.

Back to the office for a 1pm conference call!

    CSI )

Besides CSI, I caught up on last week's Criminal Minds which damn near gave me a PANIC ATTACK. I went through my house to find my smoke alarms and fire extinguisher and easy exits. I'm completely creeped out.
First? Is it me or did the lawyer in last week's episode of Studio 60 work for the same firm that Sam Seaborn ended up at in LA - Gage Whitney? If it wasn't for Rob Lowe the name wouldn't have stuck but stick it did and I'm pretty sure it's the same firm. And, if it is, it's the oddest continuity thread ever.

    Criminal Minds )

Work is crazy and I'm leaving for Florida on Friday at noon. I'm really looking forward to the trip, though. I'm heading down to the Naples area from Friday evening until Sunday morning to visit friends from former company and then we're driving to Orlando for a three day conference (where, OMG, I'm speaking on a panel which is both exciting and scary).

Are you all watching this show??? It's so gooooooooooooood.

    Season finale... )

Part I of the CSI season finale tomorrow!!!
    Criminal Minds... )

The bonus tonight was Lady Heather and scritching all in one night of CSI on Spike? Nice.

This is one of my all time favorite bits of dialog from CSI:
Grissom: "You're very good. You could work for me."
Lady Heather: "You want to be my boss?"
Grissom: "You never know. We both might learn something."
Lady Heather: "Oh, I'm sure of that."

    Guh.

(Though this is pretty good, too: "We need you to stop scritching and yiffing, and take your costumes off.")

    New CSI tomorrow!

This was the moment I fell in love with Spencer Reid: )

I loved tonight's Criminal Minds though I probably shouldn't keep watching the show home alone. (Oh, and Rufus Wainwright's Jeff Buckley's Hallelujah is officially the most OVERPLAYED background music in episodic television.)

Screencaps of the new Battlestar Galactica magazine are achieved. See?

Staying true to my handy, dandy poll, here's a link to a 28mb zip file that includes 27 pages of interviews with Katee Sackhoff, Jamie Bamber, Michelle Forbes, Tahmoh Penikett, and Aaron Douglas:

Download! (Commenting if you download is lovely.)

I love BSG a whole, whole lot.

    Criminal Minds (01x14)... )

I can't stay up late enough to watch Project Runway when it airs on Wednesdays at 10 but I did catch this week's episode yesterday evening. It just keeps getting better and better.

    How is it only 8:44am?
