*sigh*
Joey knows me. As in recognizes me when he sees me. As in, if we bumped into each other on the street tomorrow, he'd know who I am. I am fantastically satisfied.
Joan is in town from CA to see Joey in Rent. She adores Joey. Very, very much.
We met at 11:45am for lottery tickets and, thankfully, won. Becca and Heather were very gracious and switched tickets with us so that we could sit in seats 113 and 114- perfect Joey viewing for his best moments.
Before the show started, I was in Mr. A's getting hot chocolate. Dre was inside and Stu walked in. (Stu plays Benny. I have Stu issues.) Stu and I said hellos, etc. I tried not to grin too much. Dre commented on how much he liked my boots. Stu concurred. Stu and I walked back to the theater together. Niiiiiiice.
P came. We visited a bit. So sweet. (And he called twice yesterday. *g*)
The show was fantastic. Antonique was in as Mimi. I finally have a true appreciation for her talent. Too bad she's leaving the show on 11/22. I probably won't see her in as Mimi again. Jai was great. Manley didn't really annoy me though I missed Sebastian. Joey was Joey- fantastic. :)
So here's where the part about Joey gets good.
At the end of the show, Jai announced the opportunities to support Equity Fights AIDS and the breast cancer charity. This afternoon they auctioned off Joey instead of the $40 photos.
And I convinced Joan to bid. Dude! It was great! Joey kept pointing at Joan as the bidding went higher and higher and I kept egging her on. He was cracking us all up. She told Jai she came all the way from CA and I told Joan I would not let her miss this opportunity. So we won. (Well, she won. But I got to go backstage too.) And, as ususal, there was another pair of winners- two college students.
We went back stage and Joan went to pay for her win. Stu came backstage and said, "Hi Joanna. Have fun tonight?" Do you have any idea how happy it makes me that he knows my name??? He's damn cool.
We were all brought back stage and Joey came down. He said hi as the other two girls and Joan introduced themselves. Then he looked at me, gave me a hug, and said, "Good to see you again." *thud* I was hoping, hoping, hoping he'd remember me. But I really didn't think he would. *sigh* Good stuff.
So Joey started talkking to everyone and Chad came out. He and I started talking about how much he loves to work with Christina (Maureen) now that she's back in the show. He's also a great guy. Then Antonique came down and I spoke with her for a bit. All of sudden I noted that Joey and the other three were already on stage for their tour. So I ran off to meet up with them. It blows me away that I was so nonchalant that I didn't notice them walk off.
When we were on stage, I asked Joey if I could knock Mimi's knocker. He said yes so I walked to the "doorway" and knocked. Knock, knock, knock. (You know how it goes.) Joey looked at the knocker and said, "I never knew that was there! I thought it was a sound effect." He banged it a few times and said, "I'm a fucking idiot." Heh heh heh.
Then we walked back stage and, while we were backed there, I mentioned that I was one of the people in the front row for the frozen moment. So he told the story again. Just great!
(Did I forget to mention that we each took two pictures with Joey? I think my camera was fucked up but we'll see.)
What next?
We walked to the side of the stage and Joey signed some things for everyone. I didn't even have him sign anything. I thought about it but I was playing the role of "supportive friend taking the tour backstage" not "super fan taking the tour backstage." He knows I've already done that.
I asked Joey why he laughed a bit at the beginning of "Will I..." and, after playing dumb for a moment, said it was b/c Manley was giving him the finger. *g*
We were saying our goodbyes and I gave Joey a hug and said, "So, Tuesday night? A little dancing. A little drinking?" He said, "You coming? Cool." Eeeeeeeek.
And we left. Joan had Joey sign a playbill and the his picture in her Celebrity booklet. I can not believe how well she kept her cool.
Joan and I tried for lottery tickets again.
stargems was meeting me in the city and I hoped the three of us could go but I didn't win. I was waiting in front of the theater for Stargems and Joan had gone to get some McDonald's for dinner. Joey arrived back at the theater in the Yukon and, when he got out and passed me, I said, "No lottery tickets for me tonight." He rubbed my arm and said, "That's okay. Next time." Eeeeeeeeek.
It was fucking incredible. Someone asked how I know him. What do I say? B/c I'm here a lot?
Sebastian showed up. Said he wasn't in tonight. But we chatted again. (I have Sebastian issues, too. Stu and Sebastian make me a bit giddy.)
Stargems finally got to the theater. (You need a cell phone, girl.) We stopped by to say hi to P. He and I have plans to go to Suede on Tuesday. Which is good. B/c I did tell Joey I'd be there. :D
Instead of seeing Rent, Stargems and I had a quick bite to eat and saw 8 Mile. About time! Emimen is just...yum.
So, yes. Good day. Very good day. Cross your fingers that I get tickets tomorrow, too.
