is it a slow morning when I post about grapes?

- Our new sofa is being delivered today. We've been without one since old roommate moved out. I have no idea what new roommate ordered but I'm not particularly picky. I hope it's big enough, though. New roommate's dad is coming down from CT to wait for it to be delivered while we're at work. Damn kind of him.

- FHM is having a party tonight for their breakout star (Kristanna Loken) and I have to go for work. (Though I use the phrase, "have to go," very loosely.) I wouldn't have any idea who Loken was if I hadn't seen photos of her sucking face with Pink. And that's still all I know about her. But the party should be a good time. I think the highlight of last year's party was walking down the red carpet and pretending I was 'Nsync. Only, you know, no one actually took photos of me. But nothing can stop a girl from pretending.

- New grapes to try today. I found a place on 40th between 5th and 6th with the largest, most perfect green grapes I've ever seen. I bought some yesterday and they're waiting for me at the office. Thing is, they are $3.99/lb. I spent $6.42 on grapes. I'm used to spending about $4.00/day. An extra $2.42/day on grapes seems like a lot. But they look perfect. I kind of hope they're sour so I can go back to the old standards.

And now it's 7:56am which means that if I don't leave for work immediately, I'll be late. I remember a time when there was so much work that I was getting in before 7am. My how things change. I think I like this 8:30am thing. ""

on voting...

I vote. And I try to vote often because I think it's as important as it can be when it's put in the perspective of fandom. I support JC. And Justin. (And Chris, Lance, and Joey.) And I think it's great that we have so many cheerleaders who are willing to get out there and provide us with phone numbers and e-mail addresses and links to websites.

But I also know that I can't vote and cheerlead and put the same kind of energy behind this that I did for BMU. BMU was one song. One. Not an entire album with many singles. BMU had a limited amount of time it was going to be in rotation and on TRL. And by the time it was retired on TRL, I was tired of the voting. Very, very tired.

I think it's amazing that JC's fans, myself included, got his song to #1 in Atlanta last night. It shows the power of mobilization and all that. But it won't be so easy once every radio station has the song. Because can we really hit every single radio station with that same kind of force? Realistically, I know I can't & won't put pressure on myself to call/e-mail every radio station in every key market every day.

I believe it's important to show support for artists I believe in, but in the end, JC's single and album will have to carry itself. Our initial efforts may help get it the airplay it needs to convert fans and bring people in who aren't eagerly awaiting the song/album. But, to make it a hit, it will take a lot more than us. The album needs to stand on it's own two legs, have strong reviews & PR backing, and the power of JC's talent.

I'm not knocking our efforts. But I do think it will take more than our efforts. It will take JC.

I just got a card in the mail letting me know that a sorority sister made a donation to our sorority's foundation in honor of our 1998-1999 field consultant team. Only a few of you will know just how touching that was, but it made me all warm and fuzzy. We were the best consultant team ever. And we're still so close. In fact, I'm probably close with them than the members of my own chapter. Mystic bond. Pearls. Doves. Maroon & Lavender. Insert all that here.

I came home to the new couch. It's small. It's small and brown. We need a big chair or something to fill the space. You'll see, Cel. It' just not the same. It doesn't have the presence that the other couch did. The living room needs some color, stat.

I went back and unlocked my last post. I'll lock personal shit but there's no reason to lock fandom stuff. It's fandom.

And now I have to pretty myself up. My client called to say that he and his boss won't be at the event which frees me up to wear whatever the hell I want. Nice.
