We could all be in Martha Stewart's fandom.

Related...good on JC for speaking out openly and directly about the situation with the Pro-bowl. I'm glad JoJo gave him that platform and he ran with it.
Pat Buchanan and a democrat (who name escapes me) were on The Today Show this morning to talk about MA's decision regarding gay marriage. Pat Buchanan was his usual extremist self, speaking for all of America, assuming that anyone who supports this lives in Provincetown, South Beach, or San Francisco, and generally campaigning for Bush the entire time.

The discussion left me with a question. Is there a difference between something that is explicitly illegal according to state law and something that has not been legalized? For example, there was a time when interracial marriage was illegal in Mississippi. An interracial couple, legally married in NY, did not enjoy the same rights if they moved to MI. This point was applied to the issue of gay marriage. The democrat was saying that other states don't have to accept MA gay marriages in their states. Is that true based on current law or would other states have to actually pass a law making gay marriage illegal?

Learn me, LJ.

I haven't been sleeping well for the past few weeks and it's starting to get frustrating. I resorted to drinking three cups of coffee at a morning breakfast meeting and I haven't even the slightest caffeine buzz. I know I just took a vacation but I think I'm ready for another island getaway.

EDIT: My step-father is a judge and it dawned on me to call him. He thinks that other states would be forced to accept any marriage legal in another state and doesn't believe a state could choose not to recognize it.
I have a new hire. She starts on 2/16. The relocation of the FL employee is also in the works. I'm cautiously optimistic and extremely relieved that the hiring process is over. Now on to training. Woo!

I wasn't going to call job candidates to tell them that I'd filled the position but I've taken a lesson from the job searches I read about on my friends list and opted not to leave anyone hanging.

Anyway...Candy posted that great photo of JC in Teen People so, of course, I had to grab a copy. He's so darn pretty. But JC aside, I kind of have to admit that I enjoy Teen People. There's MKA and Orlando (!!!) and Justin & Cameron, and JC with the Simple Life twits, and, this issue, Nick and Jessica are on the cover. I'm not all that interested in prom dress bargains but the "Star Crush" close-up on Jonathan Jackson more than makes up for it.

Good stuff, I tell ya.

Seeing JC speak with this much conviction is incredibly sexy. I wish the Access Hollywood interview had been longer because I'm all about angry!passionate!JC.

EDIT: I mean, just look.

Thank you [livejournal.com profile] fuskeez, for the caps!
I love seeing this side of JC and I'm long past the point of thinking the situation sucks. I think, in the end, it may be the best thing that could have happened to the kid. I guarantee that Ryan Seacrest and Access Hollywood and MTV weren't going to devote this kind of coverage to his performance a the pro-bowl. I know he's disappointed and he is certainly entitled to his anger but he's really making a statement.

[livejournal.com profile] foxmonkey pointed out this article at mtv.com.

"The couple of songs off my Schizophrenic album that I was going to sing at the Pro Bowl are in no way, shape or form indecent or crude. All of the songs I write and perform speak of the hunger inside each of us to belong and to be close and to be loved."

I can't stop posting about this. I admit it.
