If you're going to be a skanky ho, why not be a morally superior skanky ho? That's so much more fun! You get to whore around and tell people that you're better than them. I can embrace that.

Believe it or not, I've actually done more on my San Diego/Vegas vacation than play fandom. Yesterday was the zoo and the giraffes. So much fun! All of the animals, including the panda, were awake and active. And there was a baby giraffe! It's only 17 days old and was the most adorable thing I've ever seen. The giraffe was probably taller than I am but it looked so tiny next to its mother. I want one. I want an entire gaggle of giraffes.

Off for coffee with a friend this morning and then I have to close two bank accounts. I've continued to bank out of San Diego even though I moved away three years ago. It's time to move on. The Bank of New York is calling me. And tonight is beer on the beach with a bunch of friends.

The best news of all, however, is that HR extended an offer to someone for me and she's starting on June 28th. Now I can really relax.

** I thought "Let's Get Retarded" was changed to "Let's Get It Started" for the sake of the NBA playoffs but it seems that's the version they're playing on the radio. Is this a national thing? And, PC babble aside, why, oh why, would they do that?

** The effect of The West Wing on my life is that I associate real life politicians with their West Wing counterparts. There was a CNN interview with Reagan's former deputy chief of staff who is, of course, Josh Lyman only with an entirely different value set.

** dj_writes and glendaglamazon have informed me that the correct terminology for a group of giraffes is a "tower" not a "gaggle."

** One of the great things about country music is that you can always count on hearing the old stuff on new stations. The bad thing about country music are songs like "Redneck Girls" or whatever that song is. newdaydawning? dreamtrance? Do either of you know what song I'm talking about? Redneck girls shop at Wal-Mart and don't need designer lables and sing all the words to Tanya Tucker songs and say Yee-Haw. Something awful like that. Who sings it? And why?
