• I'm very much in the mood to read a long, meaty McKay/Dex story and I can't find one to dig into. Clearly I'm doing something wrong because people must be writing the pairing more than I'm noticing. Does anyone have recs?

  • The Guardian reviews Hamlet. ([livejournal.com profile] kiffle - it looks like that's the costume after all!)

"The big news from Stratford is that Gregory Doran's production is one of the most richly textured, best-acted versions of the play we have seen in years. And Tennant, as anyone familiar with his earlier work with the RSC would expect, has no difficulty in making the transition from the BBC's Time Lord to a man who could be bounded in a nutshell and count himself a king of infinite space. He is a fine Hamlet whose virtues, and occasional vices, are inseparable from the production itself."

  • Sides from Dollhouse leaked and io9 takes us through the pilot. I love Joss Whedon but I'm a bit cautious about this show. I'm reserving judgment until I see the pilot (and how the male "agents" operate).

  • It's storming like crazy and I love it. Even aside from the fact that my lawn is a dying mess and needs the rain, I love a good summer storm. A downpour plus thunder plus warm weather = joy.

  • SYTYCD finale tonight and my tour tickets arrived in the mail today! 4th row!! I didn't expect it but my votes went to Katee last night. Without Chelsie to focus on, I decided I've enjoyed Katee the most of the final four. The girl can do anything. I probably won't watch the finale until the weekend, though, because I'm going to want to ff through all of the usual bs that accompanies reality show finales.

  • Oh, right! Hi. I'm not in Chicago at Terminus. I had more issues with my basement so here I am still in Ann Arbor. [livejournal.com profile] aleciamasters was kind enough to step in as my proxy for my presentation and I'm reevaluating my weekend plans which, sadly, won't involve [livejournal.com profile] carta or an introduction to Farscape. (They will, however, include an Olympics opening night party!)

  • I finished The Black Hole War last night and, on the recommendation of a friend, started Candace Bushnell's new book, One Fifth Avenue. I got about 5 pages in and literally threw the book across my room. WOW. BAD. I'm not a fiction snob. In fact, I'm the opposite of a fiction snob. I hate reading fiction that makes me search for metaphor and symbolism. I just want a good story. But I also have standards and One Fifth Avenue is about 8 bars below those standards. WOW. I have The Quantum Ten in front of me but I'm itching for fiction so I think I'm going to dive into The Fall of Hyperion. I read Hyperion for the first time in February and I've been meaning to get to the sequel for months.

    1. The dehumidifier drying out my basement overflowed and flooded another section of my basement carpet. *kill* *stab* *die*

I have fans going and I dug out the shopvac and I'm praying the mess miraculously dries of its own accord and I don't need the disaster team here AGAIN. For more money.

    2. The storm knocked out my cable so I missed the finale of SYTYCD.

    3. The air conditioner for my home in FL that I've been trying to sell for TWENTY FIVE MONTHS broke and the tenants had to take the service fee out of my rent check (which doesn't cover my mortgage to begin with).

    Hi. I AM GRUMPY.
