The Rolling Stone Justin special is going to be on-sale in some markets by next Friday. I have a copy but obtaining it resulted in a few very embarrassing moments in front of my staff and a client. They're used to it but I think today I was a bit over the top. These fucking boys tend to leave me devoid of dignity. It's ridiculous.
Anyway...it's terrible. It reminds me of one of those J-14 or Life Story specials. It's a standard size magazine rather than the standard RS oversize format and it just...bad. No new photos. No new interviews. For all intents and purposes, it's a Justin photo essay. No advertising either, aside from the inside and back covers. That's the surest sign that they threw it together from file photos. I don't know...I just expect more from Rolling Stone. I'll scan the cover and a few photos in a little bit. You'll see what I mean.
That said, it is a nice little collectors item. Tons of photos all in one place. The part I really like is where they lay out all of Justin's RS covers over the years. Plus a Justin & Cameron section. And there's also a tribute to 'Nsync though it includes the baby!sync "shirtless porn in a pool" photo which still makes me cringe.

I love how his voice gets kind of rough and gravely on "She Got Me" and "Build My World" is still a favorite. Though "100 Ways" may now be at the top of the list. I love the beat and the melody and, I've got to admit, I adore when JC plays little porn boy and lets it all out. This song does it for me. He sounds so much like Price, it's wild.
I'm not all that enamored with "Mercy." I'm not thrilled with the melody and I don't like his voice in the beginning of the song. I put in the same pile as "Everything You Want." They're fine and I'll listen to them but they don't excite me or get me groovin'.
Overall though, from everything I've heard, I think the album is going to be fantastic. I'm so ready. Tomorrow. Today. Yesterday. Soon! Yes.
