Decided late last night to hit the IMAX theater and see the 10:30am show. It was all so big and just as fabulous as the first time though this go around I was able to pay attention to different details.
** The Whomping Willow was perfect. Aside from the brilliant use of the willow during the change of seasons and the poor bluebird's demise, it was exactly as I imagined in my head. I loved the way it moved and the scene with Harry and Hermione was fantastic down to the tiniest details.
** Ron. Oh, Ron. I think every one of his lines was priceless. He's so frightened but, unlike Draco whose snivelling annoys the hell of out me, Ron is absolutely endearing. "Bad idea! Bad idea!" when Hermione's walking to the werewolf. His moaning about his leg - "They may have to chop it." And, of course, the spiders which we're all mentioning but can't be mentioned often enough.
** I wish there had been more Snape in the film. That's a personal preference. I don't think the film needed it but I would have liked to see a little more. For me.
** My favorite scene is still the bit where Lupin is transforming and Sirius is talking him through it. Good grief, the depth. I also love the scene with Sirius and Harry when they first leave the shack. Sirius' uncertainty is so moving.
** And about the transformation...what's the deal with it happening when he's in the moonlight? I thought he transforms on the nights of the full moon. Period. Not just when he's in the moonlight. If that was the case, he'd be able to teach his classes simply by staying inside. What am I missing?
** Also, about Remus & Sirius. I think I've avoided the pairing because their love is so canon. I've got an itch to read the pairing a bit more than I did before but my reasons for not reading haven't changed. It's easy. I like to see the pairings work despite the reasons they shouldn't or aren't expected to e.g. Lupin/Snape, Sirius/Snape.
Now I must clean, do laundry, and pack for SAN DIEGO!
