* The condo association approved my application so that's one step down. Though the lawyer does need to contact the property management company for the originals.

* The lawyer is finishing up something with the title which will then go to my lender. The lender then needs to send us the mortgage package. We're (the lawyer and I) hoping to have it back by the 26th so they can send it to me by the 27th and I can get it back to the lawyer by the 28th which is the day before we close. I have to find a notary but I'm told that most banks have one. (I really don't want to worry about all of this on the 28th because that's the day the movers come and I'm not comfortable running out to the bank and the Fed Ex drop box with the movers at my place. But one step at a time.)

* We're still waiting on the letter from the condo association agreeing to repair the leak and, once the estimate is back from the dry wall guy, we'll amend the contract to provide for a closing credit to cover the cost of the dry wall repair.

* The ceiling fan in the great room is missing which is a small detail but I still need to hear back from the owners. Personally, I'd prefer that they install a new one rather than provide another closing credit. I don't want to shop for a fan.

I think that's it. I changed my mailing address effective 10/28 which makes me a little nervous since I'm not scheduled to close until 10/29 but the post office needs 10 days so I'm staying optimistic and assuming I'll close on time. I still have to contact the phone company and arrange internet installation with Time Warner but those are also small details that I can take care of relatively easily.

I am going to be a very happy camper when this is all done.

I also packed up most of my office. As I was telling Cel earlier today, I have an absurd number of magazines both in my office and at home. I'd like to say that it's work related but I can't even go there. I just have an aversion to tossing any magazine that features someone I like or something I consider important. Like JFK Jr's death. Or all 6 Rolling Stone covers from July 2001. I'm sitting on copies of Bop from 2000 that I'll probably have when I'm 92 but I can't throw them out. What if I need them one day? (And is that the pack rat's mantra?) On the upside, at least, if needed, I can use the work card and claim that I have stacks of Teen People for work purposes.
