I thought I'd watch season seven of The West Wing for nostalgia's sake. Instead, I found it's been on point and consistently good in it's sevent season. But Leo.
I sobbed through the first 10 minutes of the episode before I was able to calm myself down. I'm sure it has to do with more than just John Spencer's death but, in the end, it was so good to see him on screen. He was something else as Leo.
I love the Will/Kate flirtation. It's the first intra-office relationship, isn't it? We had Josh and Amy, CJ and Ranger Rick, and Toby's attempt to woo back his ex but this is really the first time we've seen staffers get together. Of course, we also know that CJ and Danny will work it out (AND HAVE A BABY! *g).
I also really enjoy Santos' relationship with his wife. It's been believable for me since day one.
The call between Josh and Toby was great. In the midst of all this, Josh is so Josh and Toby is so Toby. And it's good to see Toby - even on the periphery. Was CJ in the episode at all, though?
The guy who played Santos' brother was also on NYPD Blue with Jimmy Smits. He played Dr. Carreras - Bobby's doctor when he was in the hospital with his heart infection. I got a kick out of seeing them on screen together again.
My favorite line was Leo to Annabeth: There's not enough helium in the universe.
And I knew Leo would come through. Of course he would. And Santos will win. But I'm not ready to see how they deal with Spencer's death. Are they going to kill off Leo? Were Martin Sheen's comments at the beginning of the episode an indication that they're not going to kill him off and pay tribute or were the comments simply included because an acknowledgment was necessary regardless?
