Today was the book club filming with Michael Chabon that I mentioned last week and the whole experience far exceeded expectations. I thought I'd show up and see a few chairs and a guy with a camcorder but there was craft services and a make-up lady and camera crews and boom mikes and professional lighting and WINE AT 9am OMG JOY. Chabon was fantastic, I liked the other book group members, and I thought the conversation flowed well. The bonus at the end was a $100 Borders gift card which is going straight to season 6 of ST:TNG.

I finally finished the book yesterday afternoon. I didn't love it - the film noir crime novel genre isn't my thing - but there were themes in the book that really resonated with me particularly in relation to my identity as a post-Holocaust American Jew and the idea of homeland. Now I'm interested to read the reviews.

The current issue of EW has short interview with Tim McGraw.
