I have an important (and slightly panic inducing) meeting tomorrow from noon to four so I promised myself I wouldn't post about the con until I was through with the prep for tomorrow. I'm as through as I possibly can be from home so con! Yay!

Saturday was Star Trek day and it completely met my expectations. Marina Sirtis came out first (in a terribly unflattering dress) followed by Jonathan Frakes who looks better than I expected and has more energy than I do even on my best day. He totally charmed me. Marina told a great story about the horrible outfits they made her wear and Jonathan did everything possible to avoid being serious. It's awesome that they're still doing this and still appreciate the fans and the franchise (though I also want to mention that they each have very strong opinions about the franchise and the new film - says Marina, "Star Trek goes forward. A movie that looks back is a bad idea [as proven by Enterprise]." Jonathan says, "Movie is good idea but would be better if JJ Abrams would take my directing notes.")

My photo op with Jonathan came next. Photo Op! With Commander Riker!! Okay, so this is where I admit I've been thinking about the photo op and what I'd say to him for a very, very long time. I loved Commander Riker in high school. LOVED. 'Life size cardboard cut-out in my bedroom' kind of love. And, to be clear, it wasn't a Jonathan Frakes thing. It was all (Hahaha. MOSTLY.) about Commander Riker and my Mary Sue fantasy of being the girl on the alien planet he decides to keep around for the long haul. So there he was - twenty years older and ready to take a photo with me.

My turn went like this:
Saturn: Thank you for being here! I've been waiting for this since I was 16!
Frakes: And that was what? Two years ago?
Saturn: Hahaha! No! But thank you! It was 15 years ago. I'm 31.
Frakes: Get out! You're a fox!

EEEEEEEEEEEE! I feel like I should be all mature and somewhat blase about the whole thing but seriously? Fuck that. Jonathan Frakes called me a fox. That's going to put a smile on my face for a looooooooong time. I'd be a girl in his Commander Riker's port any day! Even 20 years past his TNG prime.

After Saturday's events, [livejournal.com profile] kiffle and I met up with [livejournal.com profile] carta and then [livejournal.com profile] anamchara for a fantastic dinner and some downtime at Carta's place. It was such a treat to see Casa de Carta and visit with Chara who opted out of BSG day once Jamie Bamber canceled.

Which brings me to BSG day! It was packed. Breakfast with Katee and Tahmoh at 10am followed a photo op with Katee, their on stage appearances and the autographs. Originally, I was disappointed that Bamber canceled but I think the pairing we got delivered a better con. Katee and Tahmoh are adorable together. They're like brother and sister too - totally wacky and sweet and 100% fun. In particular, Katee is probably the most likable person across all of the cons I've attended. She's completely down to earth and engaged in conversation and honest (even when you get the sense she knows she should be a bit more PC). She's also STUNNING. On stage, she and Tahmoh laughed and laughed and laughed and so did we. They were careful not to disclose any real spoilers but the day got me all revved up for season four.

Some non spoilerly specifics - Katie asked everyone to give Bionic Woman a chance. She said the show is still finding it's legs and suffers from the input of 9453957 people at NBC. She also admitted that they had to tame Sarah Corvis a bit because she was overshadowing Jaime Summers. :( (Sort of related, one of the vendors had an autographed Sarah Corvis photo which Katee signed with her name and the phrase, "Time In!" She's so awesome.) What else? Tahmoh couldn't say enough about what it's like to work with EJO. He talked about his professionalism as well as how nervous he was during their first scene together. And again? A lot of laughing.

Here's a con photo of Katee and Tahmoh taken by starbuck042786.

That's it! Awesome weekend! Next up, [livejournal.com profile] kiffle and I return to Chicago for Jensen and Jared!

ETA: How did I forge this? Creation runs no minimum bid auctions where people bid exponentially more than I'd ever considered bidding on swag (even awesome swag) but, on Sunday, I heard the guy say, "Alan Bean" and "art" and "autographed" and my hand was up like a shot. I'm now the proud owner of an autographed print of this Alan Bean moon art! ([livejournal.com profile] kiffle & [livejournal.com profile] carta - This is the print I'm trying to get my hands on.)
