Last night I had to choose between two Halloween parties.
1) A great bar on the upper west side of NYC that my roommate and her friends rented out. About 50-60 people were expected to show up. Open bar until 11pm. Cute, single boys.
2) A party that my ex-boyfriend and his wife were having at their house on Long Island. Family, married couples, babies in cute Halloween costumes.
I chose party #2. It was pretty much a group of people that I grew up with sitting on the couches in my ex's living room. Music playing low on the stereo. Tame. But I'm all about nurturing the friendships. They already complain that I'm too busy partying in NYC to visit them on Long Island. So, yeah.
Here were the highlights:
1) I was a disco ball. My friend J. told me that he'd love to see me spinning over his head. No, not that head. That head. Uh huh.
2) My friend M. told me that I'm going to be one of those people who parties until I'm in my early 40's and then, one day, I'll wake up and say, "Shit! I gotta have me some kids." And I'll pop out three or four at once with the help of the fertility drugs I'll need b/c I'm so old already. Okay. Right. Thanks.
3) There was some song on the radio that was sampling from Girlfriend. Really. Someone said something like, "Oh, this is my favorite 'Nsync song." Everyone else groaned and said things like, "Don't get J. started on 'Nysnc. Please don't get her started." Do I really talk about 'Nsync that much? That's terrible. No wonder I'll be popping out quadruplets when I'm 43.
Happily, I have tickets to see Hairspray today. Weeeeeeee! I got them for my mother as a birthday present. I've heard such great things about this show. I can't wait!
