the stinky bits of being a grown up...

I knew this was coming as soon as I heard that one of my managers would be out of the office for five weeks. No Witching Hour for me. I spoke with my boss this morning and he confirmed what I already knew - it's simply not feasible for me to take 5 consecutive days of personal time while a manager's out. Time off for the Jewish holidays is non-negotiable so The Witching Hour has to go. I know it's what has to happen but still. Very disappointing.

(krabapple...My company will reimburse me for my 1/2 of our hotel room so you're not stuck with the full cost of the room. I sent you an e-mail to work out the details. And arsenicjade? We will meet eventually!)

This morning jchalo posted about her desire for new JC/Joey fic and, my god, I'm with her on that. There's nothing that would renew my interest in popslash more than a long JoeC story - particularly future fic where they're middle aged, settled, madly in love, and still having lots of sex.

apetslife made me Gil/Nick icons. Even better, they're Gil with a beard. Gil is great on his own but, add the beard, and I'm done. Add Nick and I'm on cloud nine.

I can't remember the last time I posted three times in one day but I was in a "No Witching Hour" funk all day at work and I can't resist eleanor_lavish.

1. What was your FIRST OTP? Why? Is it still on your list? What is your CURRENT OTP? (Any fandom, y'all. the ones you can't stop thinking about.) First ever? Probably Picard/Crusher. Even if I knew what slash was back in the early 90's I'd have still been a Picard/Crusher shipper. My first OTP after finding on-line fandom was JoeC. My current OTPs are Harry/Snape, McKay/Sheppard, Josh/Sam, House/Wilson, and Gil/SaturnNick.

2. Do you have OTPs in fandoms you aren't actively a part of? A band you like, or a show you watch, but you don't read/write the fic, or belong to the comms, or whatever? Oh, man. I'm at a point where, if I'm into a pairing, I'm going to scour the universe for fic.

3. In your heart-of-hearts, are you a "two halves make a whole" OTP pairing person, or do you truly believe in the OT3 as a 'real relationship' (as in, not just for a sexy night of fun)? Does it work in fic but not RL? Do you not think it works in RL and therefore can't really get into it in fic? (I've talked about this with some CSI folks, and the answers are interesting and varied.) I was just commenting to Charlidos about this yesterday. I'll read threesomes every now and then because the're often hot but, when it comes down to it, I'm a twosome kind of girl. I like the dynamic of watching two people develop a relationship (I prefer first time fic to established relationships) and the dynamic has to shift with threesomes in ways that don't connect for me in the same way. That said, I'd love to find some Gil/Catherine/Warrick fic. :)

4. In FIC-- How young IS underage? Where is the line? Is Sir Ian with a legal Elijah Wood better than Elijah with a not-yet-legal Dan Radcliffe? Generally speaking fifteen is my, "This is okay and I don't feel incredibly dirty for reading this story" cut off. That, of course, doesn't mean I don't read stories where Harry is 13 and Snape is, well, Snape.
