Cel surprised me today with a ticket to my first ever professional hockey game. The Rangers vs. the Avalanche at MSG. We lost. But it was great, great night. I learned a lot about hockey from the 13 year old boy sitting next to me. Going into the game, all I knew what that hockey games have three periods and the players fight. A lot. Cel and I also learned that we need foreign language lessons because, despite our eavesdropping, we couldn't tell whether the guys behind us were speaking French or German. But it definitely wasn't Spanish. In all fairness to us, the crowd was loud. It was very difficult to hear what they were saying.
I could possibly be converted to a hockey fan. The crowd energy was definitely motivating. But I'm still not sure that I get the whole fighting thing. They can't possibly be that angry all the time. Is it simply for the fans? Because we sure liked it.
Around the fandom...I'm in the mass grave with the rest of you after seeing those photos of Lance. The boy continues to blow me away.
There's also a lot of reading to do this evening:
foxmonkey and
scot_ty's Stop the Presses Halloween Scenefest and
hammerhead22 and
rhyssj's Shake the Disease: A Happyfic Challenge are on the list.
And, if you haven't already read it, check out
bitterchick's Self Contained Light. JC and BT. It's beautiful.
Also. A GIP from the sweet and kind
powrhug. Because JC and Justin are both city boys. And I have a matching set of icons to prove it.
