Every year, it's interesting to watch Christmas happen around me. I've never celebrated Christmas and it's highly unlikely that I ever will, with the exception, of course, of visits to friends' homes for the holiday.
As a kid, my mother wholeheartedly overcompensated for the fact that everyone else was celebrating Christmas by throwing huge Hanukkah parties and giving me an excessive number of gifts each of the eight nights. Now we kind of go through the motions but, honestly, I don't mind. It's our thing and I have great memories from childhood which is really what matters. When/if I have kids one day, I'm sure I'll recreate the same traditions that I had growing up.
So, all that said, a very Merry Christmas to everyone who celebrates. I hope it's full of friends and family and whatever meaning you take from the day.
An open note to my SeSa author: I am leaving for the Dominican Republic and will be off-line for a week (a week! eeep!). If I even manage to read your story before I leave, it is highly unlikely I'll be able to post and share how much I love it. So, when I'm silent, just know that it's because I'm away and certainly not because I don't love what you've written for me.
Also...can't forget birthdays! Happiest of days to
stubbleglitter who celebrates today and
clumsygyrl,
without_me,
msktrnanny,
prophecy_girl, and
brak666 who all have birthdays while I'm off in the sun.
EDIT: *bounce* *bounce* *bounce* SeeeeeeeeSaaaaaa! They're up! And I have a JoeC just for me! Joy! Here's the plan. I can't read at work. (Obviously.) And I'm out of commission from tonight until New Year's Day which is clearly unacceptable. So, I'm heading out at lunch to print as many stories as I can and then again after dinner. SeSa on the beach! Stories will be printed in this order: Joey/JC, Joey/Justin, JC/Justin, JC/Chris. And we'll see where we are at that point. New fic!
