First, for my own knowledge, I did a little round up of my LotR and 'Nsync icons:

Plus one Chazoom which is the best of both worlds.
1. What's your favourite icon at the moment?
I never would have thought it. But I really do love this icon from the expression on his face to the line of his arm which is fucking stunning.
2. Which of your icons have you had the longest, what is it, and what do you think it is that appeals to you and makes you keep it?
This is me, man. Diva hips and fuck me hair. It's been my default forever. It will remain my default. This is it.
3. What do you look for when you're choosing? The funny? The pretty? The fandom/interest appropriate? The personal?
In my posts, I look for an icon that fits the tone or subject of the post. If it's a comment, I either respond with a subject appropriate icon, an icon that reminds me of the person, or an icon that I know will piss the person off.
4. Animated icons. Good, okay in small amounts, or bloody annoying?
Okay in very small does. Don't make me dizzy.
5. Is posting with the same icon as someone else the equivalent of going to a wedding and wearing the same dress as the bride's sister? Or worse, her brother?
Wecons are fine if they float your boat. Stealing icons deserves the wrath of LJ.
6. Any kind of icons you don't like?
Nothing too busy or flashy. I think simple says it all.
7. If LJ removed the icon function tomorrow, would it bother you enough to make you migrate elsewhere?
They better not fucking dare.
8. Pick, say five or so icons, that work for you or made you sit up and take notice (Or if you can't be arsed with all that right-click, img src crap, point to the user who has it and describe)

aleathiel, I just read her fic but I pause every time I see this icon. I love the b&w with Elijah down in the corner, all vulnerable.
It's the coloring in this one that does it for me.charlidos is the owner.
jchalo should never rotate this out. Again, it's the use of colors. Stunning. (I'm partial to this shade of yellow. All of my favorite Van Gogh paintings are the ones with this deep yellow.)
