Excessive alcohol really fucks up my sleep patters. I don't pass out for hours. I sleep for 3 or 4 and then wake up with a crazy hangover. Which is what happened at 8:30 this morning. But now, finally, the hangover is starting to go away. Thanks in part to two aspirin, a lot of water, the pancakes from my moo shu vegetables and the peanuts in that other Chinese dish.

And it's 2003. Unfucking believable. I swear I was just partying like it's 1999.

But the point of this is really about the Justin interview in VIBE. Did anyone else read it?

Pretty standard interview though a bit pushy on the "Justin is a legitimate R&B artist" front. I kept getting the feeling that the interviewer was trying to justify (no pun intended) Justin's presence on the cover of the magazine. What interested me, though, was this:

The Neptunes could easily have given Timberlake a "Girlfriend Part 2," and no one would have been mad. "I wanted to break the rules in terms of what people thought we were going to do for Justin," Williams says. So the producers decided to use Michael Jackson's Off The Wall as inspiration. In fact, they dusted off five songs they submitted for Jackson's HIStory Volume 1 and Invincible albums that were rejected. Williams rewrote parts of those songs with Timberlake and created new versions of "Seniorita," "Let's Take a Ride," "Last Night," "Nothin' Else," and "Take It From Here."

Huh. Is this common knowledged I missed somewhere along the way? I had no idea and it puts an entirely new perspective on the MJ comparisons.
