The Economist sent an invite to tonight's liquor lobby's party at the Yacht Club. The guest of honor is the senate majority leader. I was told that the invitation was extended with an assumption that I wouldn't show up in a Kerry/Edwards button. I politely declined but I did pass it on to the product manager who works on that account. He's a big GW fan and is all set to press his 2005 economic agenda on any republican politicians he can get his hands on. I'm looking forward to the stories.
I may be completely out of the loop but did everyone know about the head scarf ban in France? Beginning this year, public school students in France can not wear any overtly religious symbols or clothing to school. It bans crosses, Jewish stars, etc. but also includes Muslim headscarves and Jewish yarlmukes which observers wear every day as an integral part of their faith. In a country long prone to religious intolerance, I can't find the good in this law. I'm certainly open to commentary, though.
