chasezsshorty had another birthday. She's 27 now. Of course I missed it because I didn't get advance notice. But, rather than guilt her, I'll just say that Shorty is top of the tops - smart, snarky, thoughtful, fashion conscious, a hell of an organizer, far more patient than she gives herself credit for which is evidenced by her career choice, and a wonderful person to know. You're riding the crest and you deserve it. Happiest of Birthdays!

Here are some FAQs about the ban and a report from The BBC. It's ridiculous and the fact that the NRA has so much influence makes me sick. No one needs a assault weapon in their home. And, if someone thinks they do, I want them to prove it to me. I want them to prove what legal purposes dictate the civilian use of an assault weapon rather than any other kind of gun. I don't want to hear crap about the freedoms guaranteed in the Constitution when the document was written years before these kinds of weapons existed and was created in a way that allows it to be modified because the framers knew that times would change and they couldn't predict the way the world would change and grow. I don't want to hear crap about the government infringing on the rights of individuals. I want someone to explain to me how their rights are impeded by having any number of non-semiautomatic guns in their possession rather than any number of far more dangerous weapons. It's been proven that the ban decreased gun violence and up to 68% of Americans favor the ban along with up to 58% of gun owners. So what the fuck?
