Very involved weekend that included a goodbye dinner for
trixiesfic at Junior's in Brooklyn.
stargems and I had a scenic detour when we realized we took the L train to DeKalb Ave. rather than the Q train to DeKalb and were a 25 minute bus ride from the restaurant. I did, however, get this photo of the Empire State Building from across the river while we were waiting for the bus. The sun was setting and despite, or perhaps because of the street in the foreground, I love the shot. Dinner was a perfect mix of fandom and life and scary movies.
Today was the New York City Opera with my step-father. We go at least once/year, just the two of us, and today we saw Puccini's "La rondine." Wonderful, wonderful Opera. No matter where I live, I will continue to go to the opera once a year with my step-father. It's a tradition that can not die. (I also stopped at Tower on the way to Lincoln Center and picked up Nellie McKay's CD and the Libertine's debut CD, "Up The Bracket." And new Joss Stone on 9/28!)
gjstruthseeker put together a fabulous photo essay titled, "Love and Logic Aboard Starship Enterprise." I'm not a Kirk/Spock shipper by nature but even I can't resist the brilliance and effort behind this compilation.
Love and Logic Aboard the Starship Enterprise Part I, Part II, Part III, and Part IV.
Over the weekend I found a community,
inthetallgrass. It's for West Wing and Sports Night fic though the SN fic seems to out number the WW fic 3 to 1.
gaeta has promised to help me out since I'm still seeking out Josh/Sam, CJ/Toby, and Jed/Leo wherever I can.
And, in my ongoing fixation with Hermione/Snape,
bethbethbeth has provided me with a long list of recs. I read all 40 parts of The Fire and The Rose this weekend and encourage you to go! go! go! It's an interesting twist on the standard polyjuice potion story line.
In amusing news, though not as amusing as Britney's wedding, this icon caused some drama over at
mkaolsen. All this from a community where members make posts requesting the size of MKA's "boobiezz." (It's moments like this when I'm very glad that Cel shares the shame.)
Before I forget, deepest condolences to the Lola half of
babygotbass on the death of her fish Doodle. I hope he journied peacefully down the toilet to fish heaven. RIP Doodle.
I also don't want to forget to wish a happy birthday to
liz_w and belated birthday wishes to
krissita!
Have you made it this far? It seems this is what happens when I don't post all weekend.
Last bit is meme. This is fun on both the sending and receiving end. Go to YouSendIt.com and send a song, any random song, to saturn92103@livejournal.com. Don't think about it, just send.
