I saw RENT tonight. It was my first "post-Joey" show.
4 Things.
1) Owen: This goes first. Because Owen was Angel. Owen. Was Angel. Yes, that Angel. That Owen. Apparently Justin hurt his foot so they didn't put him in for Jae. It was, uh, interesting. But he certainly gave it the old college try.
2) Matt: Fine. Matt is great. He's Mark. And a strong actor. But, believe it or not, I like Joey's "Halloween" better. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed "La Vie Boheme," though. With Matt, it becomes much more of an ensemble piece because he doesn't stand out the way Joey did. I was also suprisingly entertained by Matt's "Tango Maureen." But I missed Joey.
3) Sebastian: The kid is glowing. Really. Just glowing. He could not stop smiling when we were talking afterwards. I am so excited for him. And a very funny thing happened with two guys on the street after the show. Becca and I were talking to Sebastian when two guys came over to ask how they could buy tickets for the show. We talked to them for a while because they were confused and, eventually, they said something to Sebastian along the lines of, "You seem to know all about tickets. You must come to see the show often." *laughs* "Actually, I'm in the show." The look on the guys' faces was priceless.
4) Pete Jr.: Un-fucking-believable. As we're waiting for lottery, I see the Yukon pull up in front of the theater. I saw Jr. driving and the car just pulled up for a few minutes and some people got out of the car. Then he drove away. Okay. Weird. Then, after the show, who walks into the theater? Jr. We said our hellos and exchanged our Happy New Years. But, wtf? My first post-Joey show and Jr. shows up? So odd.
Bed time.
