* This morning on NPR, Leo Bosner, an emergency management specialist at FEMA, spoke about the updates his team submitted prior to hurricane Katrina warning of imminent disaster and the need to act. More information is here including links to FEMA National Situation Updates from Aug. 26 - Aug. 29.
* Do any legal types know the background on how the chief justice is selected? I understand that the majority of appointees were not already on the court but why not? Isn't chief justice an honor we'd want to elevate someone to after they've served time on the court? Is it just a power play for presidents who want to the legacy of appointing a chief justice or is there more than that?
* Every morning I drive through Dunkin Donuts for a small coffee with skim milk and one Splenda but, today, the milk man didn't deliver any skim. I was all ready to grumble when the woman at the window told me that they wouldn't charge me because I'm a regular and she knows I expect my skim milk. I'm a regular! It was like I walked into a bar and everyone yelled, "Norm!" I knew it was a good idea to keep drinking coffee.
