Okay. I had a thing for Viggo before but now? Shit.
God. Viggo was brilliant. The movie was so raw...the sex...the violence.
The performances were fantastic. Maria Bello impressed the hell out of me as did the kid who played their son.
I loved watching Viggo lose his grip on this life he created for himself. I knew the basic premise but I didn't know, for sure, if Tom Stall really was a mobster. It was perfect, perfect, perfect when he says to Ed Harri's character, "I should have killed you in Philly" or whatever that line was. Up until then I was in the same boat as his wife. All of the pieces indicated that Tom was Joey but you were still thinking that maybe there was another explanation. And the scenes with his son were so powerful. It was all so powerful.
Richie's reactions to Tom's escape were great. It's rare when an audience laughs though such violence not because it's absurd or uncomfortable but because of the reactions of the characters in the midst of it all.
A few people walked out of the theater. Some during the sex on the stairs and then two more during the scene at Richie's house. It's definitely not a film for everyone but I loved it.
Now what I want are caps of every scene where Viggo is bloody and battered. Fuck. He was so hot.
Has anyone else seen the film yet?
So the weekend had been productive. The trade show was last night and, in addition to meeting Ed McMahon (he's old), there was a fun fling with a fireman. I also had a hotel room with a full ocean view and a balcony. The doors to the bathroom slid open so you could take a bath and stare out at the ocean. Pure decadence. The shame of it was that I was only there for one night. I was just about ready to move in. Tomorrow I have to head into work. I have a presentation for two of our executives on Monday and I'm meeting someone at the office at 10am tofinish start it. Whoo!
