Meridan, oh Meridian. This episode's been looming in the distance since I started watching season 1 of SG-1 and the anticipation only grew as I fell deeper and deeper for Daniel. It's all kind of absurd because I know he's coming back after season 6. I mean, something that happened four years ago is well beyond consideration as a spoiler. But, even knowing all that, there's still the DRAMA and the PAIN and the HEROISM and the JACK/DANIEL and the TEARS and the ultimate CHOICE. Lord.
And Jack. Jack. He just wants to DEFEND Daniel because he can't SAVE him. There are all of these perfect lines. Things like, "I'm not gonna let you tarnish his name. See, I don't care what that stuff is worth. My government will admit Daniel's guilt over my. dead. body." And, "You're not gonna take the fall for this. I don't care what's at stake."
Oh! Oh! Daniel doesn't believe he's worthy! But he is! And his friends help him see the good he's done. *sobs*
Mel Harris is seared in my mind as Hope Steadman so the Oma thing is a bit odd to see but it is nice to see her on screen again. And I wanted to hate Jones but I really couldn't. What I still want, however, is to make my way though s6 quickly so Daniel can return to me.
Random comments about other episodes...it's was cool to see Grace Park in "Proving Ground" and I'm very glad they rewrote the caricature that was Rodney McKay in "48 Hours."
In other news, I arranged to have my car shipped to Ann Arbor, booked a flight for the weekend of the 7th to start looking at property with my realtor, set up an appointment for tomorrow so I can put my home on the market, made plans to convert my 401K into an IRA, made reservations for 38 nights at an extended stay hotel and, uh, yeah. That's mostly it. For today. But I have a whole new list for tomorrow.
