Rodney really drives me nuts. Bonkers. Truly. But then he has these exceptional moments where he's in his element and I forgive him for the verbal diarrhea. (I also LOVE how Ronon handles Rodney. The scene where they escaped from the Wraith pod things was PERFECT. Rodney drives Ronon crazy, too, but he knows that Rodney will come through when it matters - when he has a chance. Or, uh, believes he has a chance.)
It was interesting seeing Elizabeth at the SGA as I just watched Lost City Parts I & II this week. I usually find that she demonstrates none of the skills that supposedly won her the job but it was fascinating to see her back at the SGC defending her decisions (and standing up for the fact that she's had to make then and, yes, stand by them afterward good or bad). I liked this Elizabeth more than I'm often apt to.
Oh, and Caldwell! I love the contrast between Sheppard and Caldwell as well as the growing mutual respect. And Caldwell was so calm & in charge on the bridge of the Daedalus in the midst of that chaos. His control and command was kind of hot.
It so interesting to watch all of this now that I have the context of SG-1 and where it came from.
PS. Sheppard's the coolest.
Some Daniel things. The blue collared shirt he wears in "Affinity" moves me in ways polyblend cotton has no right to. See? And here's more. But then, he puts on a suit two episodes later and I melt in a whole new way.
Oh! In light of General O'Neill finally gracing my tv screen and some newly gained perspective, I went back to read Cosecant by miss_porcupine. If you haven't already read this gem, please do. It's Jack, John, gen set during Sheppard's first return to Earth. Really great stuff.
The home inspection went very, very well. The inspector said I found a gem of a home with multiple recent upgrades and no problems of note. Wheeee! Hopefully Sally will enjoy the house more than she's seemingly enjoying our hotel room.
