Okay, gimmick? Yes. Absolutely. No getting around it with all of the "Greg in danger" promos but the scene with Greg and Gil in the hospital captured everything I love about CSI. Well, CSI and Gil. Gil can never not be himself. He walked into that hospital room and didn't coddle Greg but he was supportive and understanding and as pragmatic as I always expect him to be. It was perfect. (The bit about Greg's parents was heart breaking. He's was high on life when he was cleared for the field and it's so sad to think that he didn't tell his parents about it.)

Other things...Sophia and Brass are awesome. Brass' little head bobble at delinquent Tara was hilarious. Not awesome at all is the KFed cameo. What a waste of a valuable guest spot.

I love me some Sophia (especially with a shot gun in her hands) but does anyone else notice Louise Lombard's British accent sneak out occasionally? She needs an hour with Hugh Laurie's dialect coach.

My favorite non Gil/Greg exchange of the episode was this:
Hodges: We're talking about humans here, not bugs.
Gil: Humans have always adapted strategies from the insects.


Have I ever mentioned how much I hate the cadence of Sarah's voice? I don't know why Jorja Fox does that. She needs an hour with Hugh Laurie's dialect coach, too.
