It's a lovely weekend all around. I had dinner with a friend from work last night and then she came back to my place to watch BSG. The show blows my mind. Every character is more interesting with each passing episode. I didn't have much use for the Tighs on Galactica - their antics bored me - but they're so interesting on New Caprica. (As much as I understand Ellen's motives for selling them all out, I can't forgive it.) I'm waiting eagerly for the Hera plot to blow up. Mostly I'm interested in Boomer's reaction to Adama's betrayal. The show has me at the edge of my seat. It's complex and edgy and I hope they can stay the course. My friend stayed overnight and, this morning, we walked in the Ann Arbor breast cancer walk. I was more emotional about the event than I expected to be so I'm glad I pulled myself out of bed at 7am and braved the cold. Tonight I'm off to see The Departed. I can't even remember the last movie I saw. It might have been X-Men. When did that come out? Memorial Day? The best part of the weekend, though, is that I took care of all of my errands so tomorrow I plan to do nothing but finish reading Into Thin Air*, watch The Right Stuff DVD extras, and laze around.
*I'm sure I read "Into Thin Air" a few years ago but Outside Magazine just did a report on Everest 10 years after the disaster and it peaked my interest again. I think I'll love this book equally well the 43398567th time I read it. If you haven't already picked it up, I highly encourage you to check it out.
Random bit for the educators reading this, it's Educator Appreciation Week at Borders through 10/16. Teachers, aids, administrators, etc. receive 25% off all in store purchases. If you haven't already, go shop and save!
ETA: After the walk, I took a long hot bath. I'm sitting there reading when Sally decided to come poking around. Sure enough, it takes less than 5 minutes for her to fall off the ledge of the bathtub into the water. The poor thing took off before I even realized what happened but not before she managed to trail water all over my house. I'm going to hope it's a lesson learned. The drowned rat look does not suit her.
