Has anyone noticed that I don't post anything of substance these days? It's not that I actually anything substantive to say tonight, either, but I've almost entirely gotten away from saying anything about me in anything more than off-hand after thoughts. What can I tell you? The manager who quit is only with us through Friday which means I need that job posting up soon. (As in yesterday.) I'm hoping that since it's a manager position, a variety of people will step up and apply (and that at least one of them will be qualified). My trainer couldn't meet until 7pm tonight so I'll be up way past my bedtime as I try to wind down. I'm leaving for London on Saturday night and am only a week away from my date with Dan Radcliffe in Equus. Oh, how about this? My car registration expires on 4/18 but I can't get Michigan registration without my Florida documentation and I can't find it anywhere. I can write to the Collier County Tax Collector for a duplicate but that will take longer than I have before it expires which complicates everything. I want a personal assistant. Or a life manager. Someone who takes care of the details...bills, hair cut appointments, car registration.
Does all of that count as substance? Because I'm ready to talk about Stargate.
This is actually a pre-Unending post as I'm many episodes behind on SG-1 and likely won't see Unending until some point in April or, perhaps, when it actually airs on Sci-Fi. It's one of those things where I don't want to rush it so I'm waiting and waiting and waiting. Anyway. I started watching SG-1 less than a year ago and it's hard to believe both how fast I fell and that it's already over. (In fact, an archive search shows that, April 26, 2007 I wrote, "I'm watching SG-1 out of order as it airs on Sci-Fi in the evenings and I've enjoyed every episode I've seen. What a great show! It's in my netflix queue...I may have to move it up the line." If only I knew that would translate into devouring NINE SEASONS of television in 12 weeks.) I probably feel a bit like the 'Nsync fans who found them just prior to the hiatus. (Hahahaha! Hiatus. How silly we were.)
paian just recently said, in fandom the weekly adventures never end. It is, thankfully, so true but I'm greedy and I want MORE than two TV movies. And then I think of other TV show endings like ST:TNG or West Wing where I felt like I was saying good-bye to family. This is different. It's not the same kind of nostalgic, aching good-bye. (And don't tell me I'm the only one who hurts when series end.) It's simply that I just got started. I haven't even had a chance yet to lament about the good ol' days of seasons past. My "remember whens" are six months old. I want more Daniel.
I see that Shanks was cast as a recurring character on 24! That's not Daniel and it adds another show to my roster but I'm very happy for him. It's one hell of a nice transition (though I do hold out hope for occasional Atlantis visits).
And on the topic of season 4 Atlantis - I can't get behind Sam on the show. I love the SGA team and I can't imagine how she's going to blend in without throwing off the dynamic I love. I'm a big skeptic on this one.
ETA: It's Pi day and
notpoetry is sponsoring a math porn challenge! *sigh* Math and porn are a perfect combination.
