[livejournal.com profile] carta did this and I loved it so I'm doing it, too: The "moment I fell in love with a character" meme.

To make it nearly impossible, I limited myself to one character per show. Here are mine, with photographic evidence:

Ronon Dex: I liked Ronon from the moment he appeared on screen but I loved Ronon from the moment he pulled a knife out of his hair in "The Hive." KNIVES IN HIS HAIR. He hasn't let me down since.

Daniel Jackson: This is totally superficial but it was "The First Ones." Daniel was awesome from the start but officially, in "The First Ones," he was awesome and hot. So very, very hot. And resourceful. Don't forget resourceful.

Dean Winchester: Falling for Dean Winchester was actually in a moment when I appreciated more than his (gorgeous, gorgeous) face. "What Is And What Should Never Be" is my favorite SPN episode because of the glimpse into Dean's truest desires - the life he wishes he had that he's too self sacrificing to even admit to himself he wants. It was heartbreaking and enlightening and made me appreciate Dean in a whole new way.

The Cast of The West Wing: I know this is a cop out because I'm picking an entire cast but there's no possible way to pick one cast member when I love them all SO MUCH. It was season three that did it for me. I think it's probably the finest season of television ever aired (and that's saying a lot given my complete and total obsession with BSG). From "Stirred" to "Dead Irish Writers" to "Hartsfield's Landing" it's the season where The West Wing was at it's best and the season that earned my eternal fannish devotion.

Ianto Jones: Clearly I'm a sucker for the h/c because it was "Countrycide" that did it for me. He was finally out in the field and he was almost eaten and he was so brave and noble in the face of the scary, creepy cannibals. I just wanted to take him home and feed him soup and then send him over to Jack for some physical comfort.

Ten: Okay, fine. It didn't take much. One look at the pin striped suit and the converse and the hair and I was gone. "Smith and Jones" and I was done for. He's so quirky!

Laura Roslin: It was "Unfinished Business" that did it for me. There are so many great Laura moments where she's a leader, a teacher, a mentor, and a woman but this episode was the one that rounded her out in my mind. I loved the scenes of Laura on New Caprica with Adama. She was forced into this crazy position as president of the last surviving humans (43rd in the line of succession) and here we got to see her, for the first time, relax. I loved it. I relaxed with her. But, just as much, I was enthralled by her scenes in the ring with Adama. It was all about supporting someone she cared about. It's such an inconsequential moment when there are so many other defining moments but it stuck me.

ETA: Some of the things that people think might go wrong with the LHC are Miniature Black Holes - these exist for only fractions of a second and then decay, but naysayers worry that they'll form up into a massive black hole that will start chewing up France. Hahaha. I love io9.
