While [livejournal.com profile] carta, [livejournal.com profile] lilysaid, and [livejournal.com profile] cranberryink are all cheering for colder weather, I'm trying to find the resolve needed to face another Michigan winter. With this morning's 32 degree weather came the realization that it's officially too cold and too dark at 6:30pm to go for my run so, after 6 1/2 months away, I packed up my gym gear and headed there after work. Please know that, for the entire day, my internal monologue was a rant about the gym: "It's crowded!" The treadmill has a 30 minute limit!" "It's smelly!" "It's NOT OUTSIDE."

[Miracle interlude: Six and half months later I still remembered the combination to my lock. *bows*]

About 20 minutes into my run my attitude changed. Sure the treadmill has a 30 minute limit and I have to wait in line and it's crowded (and smelly) but I can still run up hill and I'm forced to maintain my pace. PLUS, it's probably a healthier workout to run 5k three times a week and follow it up with 15 minutes of alternating weight training rather than running 4 miles without any weight training. MY GLASS IS HALF FULL. THANK YOU.
