Thanksgiving was eventful. There were two Thanksgiving dinners, lunch out with a college roommate, and my grandmother's 80th birthday party. The weekend also included pumpkin spice martinis. OMG YUM. I must make them myself. YUM.
(Friday night, when we were out drinking the pumpkin spice martinis, I was with my sister, brother-in-law, and my b-i-l's brother. Our waitress came over and said, "I'm sorry but I have to ask. Are you brothers & sisters? And you all dating?" Hahaha. I'm definitely not dating my sister's brother-in-law, who's married with a daughter, but I need to stop arguing that my sister and I look nothing alike.)
The adventure for the weekend came in two parts.
Part 1: I woke up Thursday with, what felt like, sandpaper in my eyes. I spent most of Thanksgiving day with tears running down my face and, on Friday morning, made my way to urgent care where the insightful doctor diagnosed me with an eye infection and gave me a prescription for MAGIC eye drops that fixed me right up.
Part 2: Friday morning, at 6am, my sister and brother-in-law woke up with a start, smelled smoke, and rushed downstairs to find the entire first floor of their house full of smoke. It must have been some kind of back flow from the fire we build that night. Whatever the cause (because the chimney guy couldn't find anything definitive) it was a stinky mess. I managed to sleep through the entire initial panic tucked in warm and cozy in my basement guest room. Yesterday, a disaster clean up crew spent 7 hours cleaning their house from top to bottom.
Now I'm home, awake from a 2 hour nap, and watching LotR while I get ready for tomorrow.
