Oh, my god, I have to go into work and I'm sitting her procrastinating after watching BSG, Top Chef Crawfish, and Criminal Minds. I think I'm going to go to the gym first. Lesser of two evils, I suppose, and lord knows I need to get on the treadmill.
I love Criminal Minds and I really need to get myself a David Rossi icon. I was angry and bitter when Mandy Patenkin jumped ship but Joe Mantenga as Rossi is all sorts of awesome. I'm also happy to read fic that pairs almost any two characters on the show. The flavor of the week, though, is Hotch/Rossi.
I won't spoil anyone for Top Chef. I just have to say that I LOVE CARLA. This dorothysurrenders blog post captures all the reasons why. Carla is joy.
Oh, BSG. I know it can't be all fast paced action in these last few episodes but I'd put this week's ep in with the 2nd episode of the season - a slightly slower pace than I was looking for. There were things I loved a lot and things I didn't love at all.
I did not love Baltar. I am so very, very sick of Baltar. I don't care about him or his minions and, quite frankly, I don't even care about the origin of head!six any more. I'd be perfectly content if Paula offs him next week and we can be spared his story line for the rest of the season. How did such a compelling character become so bland?
I did love Ellen. She was the Ellen I remembered when she stepped off raptor and said to Adama, "Aren't you gonna help a lady down off this thing?" That's Ellen. I was completely fascinated by her internal war. She knows she's part of something much bigger than herself but she's also a woman who feels betrayed by the man she's loved for eons. I can't get enough of the way Tigh and Ellen fall together - that passionate kiss - but can also be so incredibly hurtful. Ellen's visit to Caprica Six was just plain cruel. (Speaking of Caprica Six, I read a post where someone noted that Caprica Six got a dose of karma in this episode. She was the one, after all, who casually broke the neck of a human infant in the miniseries.)
So, yes, I am smitten with the Tighs in all their passion and emotion and dysfunction.
Another bit that struck me was watching Chief ID Boomer. It's so easy to forget that they were one of the first canon pairings on the show. I'd love to see them end up back together. I was surprised, though, that Chief wanted to leave Galactica. One minute he's part of the fleet, the next he's loyal to the cylons. I appreciate that, though. Identify is confusing and he's been a great mirror for how difficult it is to straddle the two worlds. Tory said, "Okay, I'm a cylon. Bring it." Tigh said, "I'm the XO of this ship." Yes, they have their own conflicts but it's really the Chief who best brings that conflict to life.
What else? Do you think there's any tie between Liam's death and Anders' "resurrection?" And, seriously, what is the deal with Adama's pill popping?
Oh! How could I get this far without mentioning Adama & Tigh. I love their friendship. It's as intense as Tigh's marriage to Ellen but, given what they've been through, exists with remarkably less complication. All things considered, Adama accepted (Cylon) Tigh pretty quickly. It just near killed me when he showed up at Adama's quarters broken over the loss of his son and how, even in that moment, said, "I know this isn't like Zak." Even in his grief, he was thinking of the old man. Their friendship is one of my favorite parts of the show.
Gym now! Really.
ETA: Fuck it. I am going to try to get my work done from home and then I'm going to blow up my balance ball and work out at home. I need a break.
