I usually have a pretty subjective opinion of BSG which goes something like this, "LOVE. LOVE. LOVE!" This week, not so much.
I'm all for wrapping up character arcs as the series comes to a close but this week felt a lot like filler. Even the decision to leave Galactica felt anticlimactic because it was inevitable.
There were any number of moments I loved, though:
Baltar's conversation with Caprica Six: It's so intriguing to watch them together knowing where they came from and where this series has taken them from those first scenes during the miniseries.
The Tighs: There's something so real (and dysfunctional) about the relationship between Saul & Ellen. I love that they understand each other in this core, fundamental way. Flaws and all. And more flaws. :)
Athena & Helo: "Tell me you hate me." God, that killed me. They both looked so broken and I so wanted Adama to let Helo take that raptor. I wasn't sure we'd see the consequences of last week play out in their relationship. It was awful to watch but worth it.
Roslin/Adama: "I don't think I ever felt at home until these last few months with you." *sigh* I can't imagine Roslin will make it through to the end which makes these last moments so bittersweet. She can still get through to Adama, though. She can still lead him to the action he knows he needs to take. And I loved that they took us back to New Caprica and the moment they sealed themselves in my heart FOREVER.
Starbuck: I'm completely compelled by Starbuck's journey to figure out what the hell she is.
So I'd say this episode was a mixed bag. There were tons of moments I loved but it wasn't quite what I need for the third to last episode.
