It's been a wonderful birthday. Thank you for all of the birthday wishes! At work, my colleagues had all sorts of surprises for me including a 36 piece box of Norman Love chocolate. Have you ever had Norman Love chocolate? Sinful doesn't even begin to cover it.

Of special note, [livejournal.com profile] arsenicjade wrote John/Ronon for me! This story would be fabulous even if wasn't written for me but it is so I love it all the more! It's John/Ronon throughout season two and it simply rings true. I also love that Arsenic doesn't overlook or diminish the relevance of the friendship between John & Rodney as she weaves this story.

Unsaid by Arsenic (John/Ronon, R)

Thank you, Arsenic! The story is as wonderful as you are.

And [livejournal.com profile] powrhug sent me some absolutely stunning roses. Thank you, Kare! I love them. I'll take photos once the flowers open!

"The Hunger Artist" is on Spike right now and it's the first time I've seen this CSI episode since I started watching BSG. I've been waiting to see Tricia Helfer in this role since I've seen her as Six. (Somewhat related, I used an Amazon gift certificate to order the first season and a half of BSG. It's step one in my plan to indoctrinate my Florida friends prior to the season three premier.)

And last night I finally caught up on last week's TV...House, Criminal Minds, CSI, and Supernatural. Loved each and every one of them though I think what had me squealing the most were the promos for this season's final four episodes of CSI.

ETA: Oh! And I share a birthday with David Hewlett. I suppose that only translates to sex with Sheppard in my mind but my mind is really the only place where it needs to make sense. ;)

West Wing (07x18)... )

Last night was lovely starting with a tapas style dinner followed by drinks, drinks, and more drinks. I'm still hungover and flying back to FL was a bitch but it was worth it. My love and thanks to [livejournal.com profile] kiffle, [livejournal.com profile] eleanor_lavish, [livejournal.com profile] thegayboyfriend, [livejournal.com profile] rossetti, and [livejournal.com profile] schuyler for celebrating with me!

[livejournal.com profile] deleerium took requests for 28 Orlandos and I claimed "obedient Orlando." The result is an Orlando/CSI crossover ficlet! Orlando Bloom and Gil Grissom! It's perfect!

Bed now.

Last night I was indoctrinated into the cult of Franz Ferdinand Live by [livejournal.com profile] eleanor_lavish, [livejournal.com profile] rossetti, [livejournal.com profile] schyuler, and [livejournal.com profile] thegayboyfriend. I liked their music but I didn't get it. Now it get it.

Tonight is a birthday party my sister organized for me. It's at a little hipster place downtown with very specific (and stressful) reservation policies which equals a handful of us for dinner and a larger group for drinks after. A few people I haven't seen for a loooooooong time are expected to show as well as the people I harass every time I come to NY. It's a lovely way to turn 30.

I come bearing a Sam/Dean rec passed along by mickeym:

Conversations Over the Front Seat by JDSampson

Sam shifted. His knee bumped the steering wheel and not for the first time in his life he cursed being so tall. "Okay, so maybe I think about it." Words so very soft in the night.

This is mind numbingly hot. I apparently have a kink for every single element of this story.

And, of course, happiest of birthday wishes to [livejournal.com profile] lotusmoppet! I hope you have a wonderful day!

In the hubbub of Passover festivities I forgot to record CSI. (Right. That's a lie. I looked at the schedule before I left for NY and I thought it said that the episode was a repeat so I actively didn't record it. It's totally my fault and plagues may rain down upon me for trying to blame God.) But it was new! New Grissom was airing while I was discussing the relative merits of almond torte vs. chocolate dipped macaroons. (The macaroons win no contest.)

My own DVR at home in FL should have recorded it like good little DVRs do and I can also download the episode hence the acknowledgment of disproportional woe. But still...new Gil! And I was discussing dessert!

It was a fabulous night, though. My family celebrated my 30th birthday and my sister gave me a laminated scrapbook of "[Saturn] Through the Years." She must have worked on it for ages. It's remarkable. I've never received anything like it. There's one photo, though, taken the summer my father died and I look absolutely haunted. It's hard to think of the little me who went through that. I want to reach out and tell her it's all going to be okay.
