My family has come and gone and I miss them terribly. It was three days of perfect madness with my mom, grandmother, and aunt. We ate our way across Ann Arbor and had so much fun in Home Depot the sales guy thought we were all drunk.

  • Before anything else, I need to mention the series finale of Babylon 5 aka BEST EVER )What a kick ass series. I almost want to go back and rewatch the whole thing. There was so much to take in! Instead, I'm going to search for some of the B5 novels.

  • Maureen Ryan, from the Chicago Tribune, consistently wins for Best Battlestar Coverage. She has a fantastic new interview with Ron Moore here. We get tons of tidbits about “Caprica” (fall airing unless it's picked up for a series in which case it will air in 2009), rumors of season 4.5 webisodes (also confirmed here), non-spoilery details on the back half of season four (airing in January!!) and news on Moore's new show, “Virtuosity.” It's a seriously good interview.

  • Over the weekend I picked up this new bag. Little did I know that Hobo International names all of their bags after women. I got home and realized I'd fallen for the “Sally!” It's destiny.

  • I, like the rest of America, loved The Dark Knight. So much. Heath Ledger was as insanely good as the reviews have said and, beyond that, the movie was just plain great story telling.

  • Randomly, someone at DC Comics sent me a copy of Watchmen. I say "randomly" because I don't know who sent it and I never heard of it before this weekend's trailer and EW cover. I hear it's phenomenal, though, so I'm going to dig in.

  • EW has a preview of the new Star Trek movie posters available at ComicCon. OMG WANT. Put the four together and you get one giant poster with the Star Trek insignia. (Randomly, while I was searching for the image, I came across this ew.com bit on Star Trek slash. Huh.)

  • I didn't have a chance to watch SGA while my family was here but I am going to remedy that tonight. I am completely unspoiled! \o/

  • Here: have a 30% off coupon for the new borders.com.

ETA: Here's the cutest little interview with Jamie Bamber. He talks about his new series - L&O: UK - and about wrapping BSG. I'll never be able to reconcile his British accent with Lee Adama.
  • Let me show you my upcoming humiliation: Last night three friends and I cooked dinner and drank wine and, after much wine, one friend revealed that a SVP at our company, her boss, is a secret artist with an even more secretive website for his landscape art. Nosy, intrepid and voyeuristic as we are, we were able to find his website and, in a fit of giggles, I bought a painting. I was drunk and I just had to click the "buy now" button and sign in via paypal and OMG this guy is going to see that I bought one of his paintings when he has to SHIP IT TO MY HOUSE. I'm mortified. Not only will he know I found his secret website but I BOUGHT A PAINTING. It's so wildly inappropriate I can't even begin to tell you and I hope he never, ever speaks of it.

  • So, it turns out I gave my adultering asshole of a friend even more credit than he deserved. After passing along his hellos to a colleague, she mentioned that she never actually like him all that much because he's a player who cheated on his wife with a colleague while all three of them worked at the office together. What an asshole.

  • I'm off to see "Wanted" in a few minutes and then I have plans with different friends tonight to see "Wall-E." I can't remember the last time I went to two movies in one day but I can't pass up either. Wall-E! It's the first animated movie I'm paying to see in the theaters since "The Lion King."

  • 5k today was tough but I did it which, I suppose, is most of the battle.

  • [livejournal.com profile] carta and I finished season four of B5. One season to go! :/ I love Sheridan. And Ivanova. And Delenn. And Marcus. OH, MARCUS. Can anyone tell me what movies we should watch when we're through with season 5? I know there were a bunch but I'm not sure if all of them tie to the series or some are spin-offs or what.

  • Also, [livejournal.com profile] carta, I got the sweetest card from you which you must have written a year ago based on what's inside. How about I keep it a mystery? ;) PS. We need "Sheridan with beard" icons.

I'm back from my trip to NY/Baltimore and head over heels in love with my nephew. Chase is the cutest, littlest thing I've ever seen and my sister is a complete natural with him. It was one big love fest.

On Sunday I took the train down to Baltimore for a work conference which was, counter to expectations, tremendously productive. It was also frustrating as all hell. Always the mistress, never the bride )

  • SGA: In happy marriage news, David Hewlett wedding photos

  • Dr. Who: I LOOOOOOOOOOVED "Turn Left." Oh, Donna Noble. This show makes me so happy. (Before I start reading reviews, was the general reaction to the episode positive? I don't want anyone to harsh my squee.)

  • Torchwood: Have some great Gareth-David Lloyd links from !

  • And here are awesome photos of Viggo from CineVegas Film Festival and the set of Appaloosa.

  • I have three episodes left in s4 of Babylon 5. The last episode, Between the Darkness and Light broke my heart. :(

  • The fun part of this week's travel is tomorrow is already Thursday! Friday night I'm cooking crab cakes with friends and then, on Saturday, I have plans to see "Wanted" in the afternoon and "Wall-E" in the evening. Sunday I tackle my weeds.

ETA: I ran 5.5K today (\o/) and listened to the BSG podcast for "Revelations." Ron Moore & company were talking about the benefit of not plotting out the entire series ahead of time because it allows them to build on unexpected elements of the show. It was interesting to hear their perspective because, as a fan, I see both sides. On the one hand, I love that they have the freedom to surprise themselves and, by extension, us. On the other hand, there's something about knowing the plot has a course that gives me comfort in such a mythology based show. Look at the X-Files. What a mess. BSG hasn't let me down yet, though.

They also talked about how this idea of writing the series as it progresses applies to a particular plot point. )

I landed at JFK around 11pm and was in bed at my mom's house by midnight forcing sleep so today would come faster. Of course, like a kid on carnival day, I was up at 5:30am and now I'm just waiting until 8:30am when I can go to my sister's house and meet my nephew.

Later this afternoon, Chase's bris is back at my mother's house and tomorrow is day 2 of face to face aunt duty. \o/

The timing all worked out well because on Sunday I'm taking the train to Baltimore for a work conference and flying straight back to MI from MD on Tuesday.

Note to [livejournal.com profile] carta: I watched 04x16 before I left last night and downloaded 17- 19 for my iPhone so I can watch them while I'm traveling. It's all intense again! And worrisome! I don't think I can wait until Wednesday to watch the story progress. Garibaldi's such the wild card in all this.
